Founder & Director
Black Canvas™ is creatively spearheaded by Drew Lewis Guerra, an award-winning writer, director, and editor with over fifteen years of experience in commercials, music videos, film, and television. Known for his strong post-production expertise and his hands-on and humble approach, Drew’s bold ideas, meticulous attention to detail, and collaborative spirit have driven success across countless projects.
A Houston native, Drew’s passion for filmmaking began at age 12 when his father brought home a VHS-C camcorder. By high school, he had written, directed, and edited dozens of short films, setting the foundation for his career. His recent short film, The Last Light (2025), explores human connection in the face of catastrophe and is currently on the festival circuit. His previous film, The Traveler (2023), a prehistoric action-adventure, was selected by nearly 30 festivals worldwide, earning six awards and numerous nominations. Drew holds a Bachelor of Science in Film Studies from Full Sail University (2010).
